I happen to have a piece that is 16" diameter which looks like it would be a good sled gliding surface. Anyone made one that size? Is it going to be big enough?
I’ve never noticed anyone make one smaller than the recommended one of 18"
16" is not that much smaller, should work fine is my guess.
I think I’m going to go for it. Worst thing is I won’t like it and have to make a larger one.
I’ve been using a 16.5" circle, works fine!

This is good news - I am assembling my frame as we speak, and realized I don’t have room for a full-sized sled without modifying the header… 7’6" ceiling height 
When I am hitting the bottom of my material, the sled/weights will be nearly touching the floor.
Every inch counts!
