I guess this is technically my 3rd successful “real” cut. I bought a sheet on 0.1" plywood to cut patterns out of, I was trying to figure out what to cut, so I googled “free cnc patterns” and found Open Designs - Obrary. They had a .zip file with all state outlines as .dxf and .svg files, so I decided to cut Alabama. Unfortunately, I never could get it to work in MakerCAM, so I ended up downloading Carbide Create, which worked great. I’m currently using a 2mm bit and the cut was fairly small, so fine details were lost, but I think it turned out pretty well:

It’s a shame that they didn’t have the shapes of all the counties in Alabama included as well, then you could have grooved all the county lines. But hey, if that’s something that does interest you, I can draw it up for you and send you the SVG file.

Yeah, that would have been cool, although at this point I’m not sure I could successfully generate g-code for that with the knowledge I have now. I may try that later, but right now I’m focused on mostly simple stuff with cheap stock.
