Touch plate and R Pi cpu usage

I got my R Pi up and running.

The R Pi is running at nearly 100% the entire time webcontrol is running.

When I shut down R pi, my CPU usage drops to the 10-20% level.
And when I try to move the unit in any way (move the sled left or right, Z axis up or down, cut the calibration holes) there is a long delay between giving the order in webcontrol and the servos actually moving.
is that normal?

I think I have an R Pi 3 (if that is the one before the current one).

Then, I try to zero the Z axis with a touch plate. I enable it in the settings, but get a warning that touch plate is in development. do I need to update webcontrol or something?

Thanks!
M
