I am about to hit the store on this website and get a maslow. Home Depot has the rigid router listed, and I like the z-axis kit. What am I missing, what should I expect?
The Z-axis kit should be mandatory. I honestly don’t see how someone would use the machine without it.
I don’t necessarily think you are missing something, just be realistic in your expectations of what the machine can do (and that its slow) and be prepared to learn more than you thought you would need to. The list is long. The best way to learn this is to dive in… I just recommend that you start with a simple project first. Don’t try to build a boat on day one.
And here I was thinking of a plane for project one… doh.
Definitely not a project for someone expecting turn key… I’m still waiting for my kit as well, and look forward to the evolution. Reminds me a bit of my first 3d printer build…
A plane would be ok… something like this cutout of plywood?
not exactly the spruce goose, but it’s a start.
You might want a router bit as well.
I’d suggest starting with something simpler than that cart, then work your way up. Get the learning curve out of the way before tackling an advanced project.
Bar’s got bits in the store for a reasonable price
