When I turn on my router it doesn’t always connect. It takes several minutes, then much of the time I will get a message that the connection has been lost. It happens so frequently I’ve not been able to complete my initial calibration.
Hmmm, that is a good question! How would I tell if it is connected to my home Wi-Fi? I do know the “Maslow” doesn’t show up in my my list of available networks.
Try to go into the FluidNC config before you loose connection and set it to AP mode. Also check that your network profile is set to private and not public of your on Windows.
Click the network icon in the bottom right corner of the screen. Then right-click the network you are connected to and choose properties or settings. You should get something looking like this:
I was having issues when connected directly to the Maslow as an AP and found that it was set to public. Changing to private fixed the issue.
This doesn’t happen as often with connections to home WiFi, but since the Maslow doesn’t let you connect to the Internet via it’s own network Microsoft thinks it might be iffy and sets it to public.
Worth checking either way just to be sure.
You can also search for “change network profile Windows” if you can’t find it. On my phone, so I don’t have the correct path in front of me at the moment. Memory is failing at 2am
Today is day two of attempting to calibrate my 4.1. Today I was able to retract belts, then extend belts. After hanging the machine, it self disconnected. I got the lost connection code. I tried the maslo.local to no avail. I then downloaded Firefox used find my Maslow it says”No machines found”.
Yes, sorry. The Maslow can provide its own WiFi network. AP stands for Access Point. When it’s in AP mode, you can connect your PC directly to this network to avoid interrupting traffic from other devices on your home network. If it’s in AP mode, it will not be detectable from your PC (if the PC is connected to your home network), but you will have a WiFi network called “maslow" in your list og available networks.
It was there initially and I logged into Maslow. I was able to retract belts then extend belts. By the time I did that I lost my connection. I think next time I’m able to get logged on I should delete my home WiFi.
You don’t have to delete it, but if you get to log in again, look at the top of the page.
There should be 3 tabs on top. The first are the FluidNC controlGUI. Represented by an icon I believe. The next has “FluidNC” in text. And then there is “Maslow”. So:
ICON | FluidNC | Maslow
If you click “FluidNC” (the middle one), you will get to a page with configuration settings. There’s a section there for the network settings. I don’t have it in front of me at the moment, but something in the ball park of these settings:
Network name (SSID): maslow
Password (WPA/PSK or similar): ******
IP mode: DHCP
IP Address: 192.168.0.1 (standard)
There should also be a drop-down menu where you can choose AP mode.
There are images and explanations here I found. Might need an update, but it should be similar enough to find the settings you need: User Guide — Maslow
