Sorry - I am new to the Maslow and CNC in general. Do you have access to the CAD files for the cabinets you mentioned above converted to Gcode or otherwise that will be essentially “plug and play” with the Maslow? I don’t have experience with CAD files in general and converting them to the appropriate code for the Maslow - is it possible to share those conversions files so they are ready for Maslow creation? Are they available somewhere from those that has successful cut out a full cabinet with their Maslow? Thanks!
@arcadefanWC I don’t know of anyone that’s already made gcode from them, but it wouldn’t be hard. I could probably make some Maslow flavored gcode in my spare time. Just tell me which cabinet you’re wanting and I’ll work on it in the evenings.
When I’m in CAM, I always like to put the Maslow starting point (Zero) dead center of the stock, so in essence, you’d just load the gcode, and hit go and everything will be in the right areas for the Maslow. Providing your stock is centered.
I haven’t cut that cabinet on the maslow yet. But I am working on an Aussie Lowboy that I’m going to make into a JAMMA multi-game system (60in1 Probably), and I’ve also cut out a bartop in full already.
Let me know!
So I did this in like 5 minutes, it’s one of the sides, with the blocking pocketed out to .1" for aide in placement of the blocking when building the cabinet, some of the monitor pieces, and the speaker panel. With the Maslow’s current limitation on the size of the sheet it can cut accurately, this TMNT cabinet would probably take 3 sheets, possibly 4. If you want me to finish all the gcode for this cab, let me know. I’m not sure which Konami you were wanting.
EDIT: Here is the entire cabinet made into gcode for ya. Setup for a 1/4" bit. Maslow should cut this perfectly. All you have to do is load the gcode into GroundControl, move the reticule to the center, define home, click play. Tabs are already there, and all pocketing, and drilling programs are included.
TMNT-Sheet-1.nc (78.4 KB)
TMNT-Sheet-2.nc (60.1 KB)
TMNT-Sheet-3.nc (56.2 KB)
TMNT-Sheet-4.nc (14.1 KB)
TMNT-Control-Panel.nc (98.4 KB)
Awesome! Thank you very much! I was thinking about Sunset riders, however, I believe it is almost the same as TMNT. The other cabinet I would greatly appreciate the gcode would be Ghouls n Ghosts. Here is the link:
Thank you again for this contribution - I hope I can try this out soon.
Ok gimme a bit on that one, I’ve got all my 3D printers running and they’re about to be spitting out parts in a few minutes.
If you cut the TMNT, post photos! I’d love to see your build process!
Sounds good…thank you!!
I will definitely post anything that is cut - hope it is sooner than later.
I apologize in advance for the newbie questions - this is going to be my first project with the Maslow and I do not have any previous experience with routing of any kind.
You mentioned a 1/4" bit - I have noticed there are several types of bits (straight, rounded, decorative, etc.). Can you specific the exact bit, if it matters, that is correlated with your goode program? I want to make sure it is exactly as you intended with the code language.
Also, in your message you make these statements - “move the reticule to the center, define home”
I have the gcode loaded into Groundcontrol and it loads fine - I just want to make sure I understand how you “move the reticle” and “define home”. With that; I can just hit play and let it go from what I am understanding. Anxious to give this a try. Thanks for the help and clarification!
When you load my gcode, it should already be centered on maslow’s work area. if you move the little red cross hairs to the center of ground control (with the directional buttons in the top right of the screen), and then click “define home”, everything should cut perfectly on the maslow. No worries about going off the edges etc.
By 1/4" bit, I mean this one.
That has pretty much been my primary bit, but I did just receive the O Flute Bit that MeticulousMaynard likes to use. I’ll be giving that bad boy a try this weekend!
Thanks for the reply - I just picked-up the bit at Home Depot and getting ready to give this a try. I have to get the sled finalized and ready the first cut - getting excited to see how this turns out. If you do get a chance for the Ghouls n Ghosts plans - I would really appreciate it. I have a control panel I have had for a long time and my goal of having my own Ghouls n ghosts cabinet is high on my list. I would try and cut it right after the Konami 4 player cabinet. Again, thank you for your time and contribution!
damnn… that’s so cute plus cool
Thanks for your contributions! If I may, I have a few questions.
I’m looking at the g-code and seeing notes like: Machining time about 03:04:13 hours.
Is this really a ~10-12 hour cut requiring 4-5 sheets of stock? And I’m reading elsewhere that leaving the machine unattended is a bad idea. Are you guys really supervising these jobs for hours on end?
It seems to me that maslow would be great for creating one cabinet via plans, but for making multiple upright cabs, it would almost be faster to create and use templates
Thoughts?
