Can you display Webcontrol screen from Rasp Pi when using another computer to control the Router

ok will do!! I am picking up what you are putting down I think…off to the races, thank you so much!!! Wish me luck, here we go

yes got it, I can do that BEFORE Holey, but after all this is done. Maybe even test a part first before Holey for the heck of it.

set up and holey calibration wont cover the z axis settings, you will meed to manualy enter those yourself

ok thank you, very helpful. I wrote them down…will make sure to update, I know the 2 places. Maslow settings…Advanced setting for the encoder counts.

No. dont cut any parts until you are completly done the set up and calibration first

ok so after Calibration of course, but also after Holey as well. Gotcha! Will even check when done with calibration that the new .json file is there

yes, pointless to cut test parts until the machine is fully calibrated.

Yes totally agree. That is what i meant, probably did not write it that  Calibrate all that good stuff first. update all the Z axis items manually. Run Holey again. Basically like from scratch, but the pi is all good and the arduino firmware as good, both can be left alone. Only thing on the pi to do is rename that .json file. got it!

You know should we remove any reference to the groundcontrol.ini file which could be in the Webcontrol folder on the Pi? i am going to do that if it is there just to clean house fully. maybe that corrupts the .json file somehow. Just to be safe, removing any reference

thanks again Jon, getting a quick drink and off to the races with this

looks like you have a plan. good luck. ill check in later

Yes, thanks to you I do have a plan! Thank you so much, and keep ya posted as to my outcome if you log in later to see. Enjoy your time with family!!

Hi Orob and dlang, maybe you can help with this. With what I am doing, needing to change the .json file to another name, I considered taking the Pi out of Kiosk mode. We did this, both by deleting the file mentioned in my post of Anthony’s directions. Also did it w/ #. We realized with this setup in order to see the Raspbian desktop, to change file names using the GUI, that you need to take Webcontrol “out of service mode” I did not state that in our directions, and maybe you can get that piece in there or attach this as an update. I do not want someone to follow our directions, and not know how to take out of Kiosk AND running as a Service mode. Thanks!

To add to this in what I am doing, you do NOT need to take the pi out of kiosk mode or Webcontrol from service mode, you CAN use WinSCP to see both the files on the Windows side and Pi side, you can transfer between the 2. There I removed my groundcontrol.ini back to my windows PC, also saved a copy this corrupt “defaultwebcontrol.json” file. Just to have a copy if anyone needs to see it. I then changed the name to “defaultwebcontrolDONOTUSE.json” so it would not be found on the Pi, and a new one “should hopefully” be created when I do the fresh calibrations (starting in a few moments)" I suppose if you WinSCP when the .json file gets corrupt, you can also just drag and drop to the windows PC if you want to maintain copies of the corrupt. Either way, hope this information helps and clarifies Anthony’s directions to make a setup like ours. Then if someone else gets corrupt controller settings, they can still quickly change the file name defaultwebcontrol.json and reload a good .json file when needed through Webcontrol (like Jon does).

Hold up now, changing that file name defaultwebcontrol.json does not allow the pi to connect to the IP address, nor the windows PC. I need to figure this out, that did not allow me to start the calibrations! whoops on that move I need to find a different file .json, probably in a folder I missed looking in.

had a few minutes to check in. make sure that after you renamed your old .json file to then reboot your PI before continuing on. Im not exactly sure what triggers the creation of the new .json file but it might be when webcontrol starts up.

good call! lol I should of done that, foolish of me. I bet you are right, the pi triggers the folder to remake a default one. Thanks Jon!! lucky for me you check in when you did

the file you are looking for is called webcontrol.json. it is in the .WebControl folder in the home directory

Yup I was just going to say that did not work still. Let me change it back, I was changing the defaultwebcontrol.json…which I thought was odd as default was in the name. I did not look in the folders, or maybe hidden. Let me poke around and be back…thanks Jon

Yup there she is! It is in a hidden folder, well you can see it in WinSCP, it is just grayed out of sorts. It’s right above the first folder that is not grayed out called “Bookshelf” In there is the webcontrol.json! perfect, we are back in the game
