Dead Driver Chip?

After finally getting my Maslow up and running I think I may have burnt out a driver. One of the motors fails to retract or extend. I swapped the cables over and was able to get that motor to retract, which lead me to believe it was a faulty driver. After removing the fan shroud I can hear the problem driver buzzing when I hit retract all. (not sure how useful the video is but it is definitely coming from that specific driver).

Prior to this I got an over current warning on top right while running a file. My machine is set up vertically but I’m keeping my cuts well within the ‘green zone’ as shown in the web UI.
This happened 2 weeks ago and I had done a fresh update and calibration that same day.

I’ve ordered a full upgrade kit, so will be getting a new board, but I wondered if anyone else has experienced this and if there’s anything I can do to avoid damaging the new board.

Link to video (may have to crank volume to hear it, but the fan is unplugged so that noise is a buzzing driver) https://photos.app.goo.gl/rCtr4B4jWday7qzW6

I haven’t blown one up yet, but it is totally possible! While you are waiting for the upgrade kit we can send you a replacement board. I will DM you a code for a free one as soon as I get to the office.

Sent :grinning:

If you are running 0.85.1 you might want to check out this thread and try lowering the tension during calibration to reduce the strain on the motors:

Thank you. I’ve just double checked and I was still on 0.84. But I’ll keep an eye on it when i get my new board.
