Note: I have posts asking about firmware updates and versions- this, in part, may also pertain to these.
Walking through the calibration, the guide refers to a few things I don’t see (I am not sure if these are older guides or my Maslow interface/firmware needs to be updated). What is the latest calibration guide for 4.1 with the latest firmware, etc? [Link]?
- retract all ok, extend all ok - but I don’t see a button that says calibrate or place the measures for the anchors?- (old interface or changed?)
Also, I stumbled across the vertical = true setting - I assumed this is critical for belt tention and calibration.
bit lost
Calibration is old name for Find Anchors, Find Anchors more accurately describes what it is doing.
Unfortunately, there is always a lag for documentation. I understand a new version is nearly ready for release.
Vertical or horizontal is now automatic, if a Frame is vertical when you run find anchors it releases a small amount of belt, and gravity pulls the Maslow down. This is detected and sets Maslow to be Vertical. If its horizontal we have only a very small or no movement.
There was a major update to V1.01 to take better advantage of the memory capacity of the ESP32 (the processor). This requires updating via USB. You can also use this when Maslow is bricked (rare). Later versions will not fit on the original memory map.
A lot of the settings for the Maslow are stored in the maslow.yaml file. This can be edited with a text editor, but it is unforgiving of spaces etc in the wrong place. A better way is to go to the FluidNC tab then open Config Tab.
You can go back to an earlier version to run the find anchors or configuration, so long as it is later than V1.00 After running, save maslow.yaml file and make a note of the anchor points to put in the updated maslow.yaml file. I save my maslow.yaml file prior to each release and rename to maslowYYYMMDD.yaml. Of course, if you need to load it back in you need to name it back.
Hope this helps
how can i tell if I have the major update to V1.01 or can i assume this was
included in Maslow 4.1 shipped post sept 25?
If you hit settings (gear next to the arrow keys on the maslow screen) then test
it will output a number of lines to the log window in the bottom right.
The first two of these are the firmware version and the index.html version,
followed by tests of each arm and encoder to ensure that it can talk to them as
expected.
