Maslow 4 delivered

Maybe you can cut all the parts for the dust collector with your Maslow. :grinning:

If you have an problems I will be glad to help.

I have been so far behind. I hope to get some new videos out soon. I probably have over 20 hours of video shot that needs editing and a stack of tools that need reviewing. Work just keeps getting in the way. I have a full time job. I have enough personal projects that could be a full time job. That doesn’t leave a lot of time for videos.

UK delivery at 10:30am today - on the plus side the box is in good condition after 5,000 miles and numerous UPS warehouses !!! One bag of bolts made it here ok, the other …. It’s the nyloc bag for me if that helps…!

Now to clear the desk and find some space to start building !!!

Unpacked and @anna @bar got a couple of observations -
Circuit board is vulnerable to damage, mine has a squashed USB port but assuming it is “spare” so not an issue
When the nuts split they go everywhere …! Just fished one out of a motor !! The slots are small enough to lose them into every available location !!
Encoders are prone to getting caught in things - could do with being wrapped in something.

Other than that, looks good ! Now need to find my very small Allen drivers…

Is is in fact spare, but if for any reason you want a new PCB in the future just shoot us a message and we’ll send you a replacement. It is super helpful feedback for us to know that happened. We’re working on a better packing system for those since it seems like they are taking a beating.

I know that an Allen key is included in the kit, but I have only gotten the 4 arms most of the way together and I have just about rounded off both ends of the Allen already. Everyone might want to get a few extra Allen keys before you sit down to put your kit together.

WEKA or Bondhus are both high quality Allen keys.

Any idea on the size ??? Looks 3mm…??

I think the instructions say it is 2 mm.

That’s good feedback. We can include a couple if that’s an issue. We originally went with a ball nosed Allen wrench and I had issues with those rounding off so we switched to the straight one. Maybe there should be more than one in there.

Edit: Fixed end mill to Allen wrench

Sorry Bar but I think you meant to say Allen wrench or Allen key. A Ball nose end mill is definitely different, we don’t want to confuse anyone. Especially those who are not familiar with machining.

You are of course correct. Edited my comment to not confuse anyone :man_facepalming:

Mine came to SW FL Saturday afternoon, box dinged and retaped with Post Office tape and screws and nut everywhere too. We were out and it looked lonely when we made it back home.

If nobody else wants those ball nosed end mills you can send them to me, already have a lot of allen keys with various nose styles

2mm is very small, so easy to round over. it’s possible that hardened ones will
last longer (but be more expensive)

Well USPS is officially a LIAR!! in my books today…haha!! My scheduled delivery of today did not happen, and tracking just says it is “moving through the network to the next facility” with an “on track to be delivered to its destination” with no date for when it will be delivered. In other words…“we don’t know where it is, really, but we are sure we have it, and it is somewhere, probably on a truck heading to where it is supposed to go…where is it supposed to go??”

Ummm, Sent Parcel Somewhere?

If anyone has a Hobby Lobby near them, I highly recommend getting this little tool / bit set. It will save some sore thumbs and make it a lot easier and maybe a bit faster putting your M4 together.

Now all I have to do is get my frame built and start testing.

If you are say insider edition backer 321, shouldn’t there be some kind of shipping announcement email by now? Asking for a friend of course.
