Hey, I’m a middle school shop teacher in Fairbanks, Alaska who just got a Maslow last week. The kids are assembling it now, and I am wondering if I messed up by not ordering the Z axis. I thought it would be too much for the kids to deal with out of the gate and would be a better option for down the road. Can we still make complex stuff without the Z-axis.

Tending the z axis is very tedious…
I think the z-axis is absolutely worth it.
@blurfl is right that doing it by hand is a lot of work. I also think that having the z-axis might give students a better experience of CNC because part of the magic is being able to be “hands off” while it cuts out parts for you.
