Old Forums Backup

There was a request for a backup of the old forums since they have gone down. It wasn’t a stand alone post, but it was in another thread and I’m having trouble finding the post now.

I contacted Muut and they were able to give me a jason backup which isn’t all that human readable, but has all of our data in it.

FYI - I did a quick search for “.stl” and found 4 references in that file. None were part of a file name.

I’ve changed plans a bit, going to generate Markdown files of all the threads. That will make it easy to post to GitHub and have them host it with browsing/search enabled.

I did not mirror images hosted on Muut, they appear to be browsable at this time. Maybe I should mirror them to the repo?

Images are mirrored, here is an example post.

Hi @phil I am reading a thread where it seems that the images are not mirrored - am I missing something, or perhaps there were different ways of linking images in the old forums and only one way is being picked up?

Looks like the GitHub search index was displaying results from before I mirrored the images. I triggered a reindex by removing and then adding all the markdown files, so the index is up to date now!
