Stopping cut-out pieces from falling

I’m all ready to cut out my sled, and now I face a question I’ve had in my head the whole time with the Maslow system.

When you cut out a shape from your sheet of plywood, how do you stop it moving/falling out and interfering with the router?

Am I missing something obvious here?

Do you need to always program cuts to finish at the top of the shape, so the weight of the wood doesn’t drop down onto the router bit?

Do you have to leave little sections of wood attached so its like a big stencil, and then do the finishing my hand?

Thanks!
