Urgent help major will not stay connected

I am trying my damnedest to update the maslow and it keeps disconnecting about 15-20 seconds after the firmware update starts. It will not recover from this. I did switch to Firefox, no luck. I need help urgently. I have worked way to hard to get stuck at this point. Feeling defeated.

Sorry if this is not relevant, I have no idea if you’re running into a problem with the upgrade process, or something else. But… Have you already tried ensuring your environment doesn’t have a bunch of strong wifi signals close by that’s disrupting the upgrade process?

I personally use “Wifi Analyzer” phone app to help me troubleshoot when ESP and similar wifi devices struggle to connect and behave as expected. Hope https://chatgpt.com/share/682cb6e5-a0a4-800b-95f8-f14b2b2b1fd2 helps. I might turn off guest and low priority networks, and/or shift around which channel(s) are used by other networks.

Yes I’m trying to upgrade my firmware. I live in a very rural area, so I don’t have any extra Wi-Fi signals. But I will test one theory when I get home. I will take my Maslow unit down to my house and make sure it’s not weak signal issue, as my garage could be part of the problem.

But it will not stay locally connected to the unit. So I will try turning off all wifi and locally connecting it.

Is this happening when connecting directly to the “maslow” WiFi network or is it when the machine is connected to your home WiFi network?

Both. It will connect to both but as soon as I get into the updating firmware it dumps it around the 42-47% Mark.

Do you only see the issue when uploading the firmware?

What makes you think that it is disconnected?

Yes, it seems to let me use the regular Maslow functions, but I can’t update any of it. How do I know??? It tells me that it’s disconnected, and asked if I want to reconnect. But when I click the reconnect button, nothing happens and the website times out.

Ah that’s because when you update the firmware the machine will restart (and disconnect from the wifi in the process)

That sounds totally normal to me.

If you press Setup → Test do you see the machine report the correct firmware version installed?

It is not finishing the firmware update. It is disconnecting at about 42% every time.

Hmmm let’s try just turning that message off. You can do that in the preferences here:

If it is only a problem during firmware updates then it would be an option to update by USB cable too if that’s easier

I definitely do not have the correct update on my firmware.

That did not work, I unchecked the box and it STILL gave me the warning. It seems to have loaded a little differently this time, but crapped out at 48%. Can you send me the link for the wired update. I know I saw it somewhere at one point but I can’t find it.

Ahhh are you trying to update from a version before 1.0 to a version after 1.0?

No way for me to know, this was an issue. This was an out of the box 4.1. I thought all of them got the newer update. is their a different update file or still the most current 1.5 firmware

Sorry we talked about it in the weekly update for a bunch of weeks in a row when the 1.0 update came out, but you are right that its been a while so it hasn’t been on the top of the discussion recently. 1.05 is still the latest, but 1.06 will be out tomorrow. We generally have an update every other week or so

I remember watching this exact video, but somehow I had it in my head that this was an issue that the 4.0 ppl with upgrade kits were contending with. I think I thought that the new board 4.1 ppl got the 1.0 pre-installed. I have sent hubby for tools, hopefully this will have us on our way.

@Bar, when I try to update the index file. it is not named index.html.gz it is named index.html. when I try to rename it to index.html.gz, it adds another .html to the end making it index.html.gz.html does this not need the gz at the end? or how do you recommend that I go about renaming without it re-appending the suffix on it.

Hmmm I haven’t seen that happen before.

What operating system are you using?

Windows 11, seems to be working. I survived calibration but had issues with my first cut. Likely operator error. Gave up for the night. I passed calibration with .55 fitness. I’ll take that!

Does the file have the .gz extension before you try to load it. It needs to be the compressed version, it’s possible it is being unpacked before you try to upload it. Download the file again and confirm it still has the .gz extension prior to trying to uploading it to the M4.
