What did you cut today?

Wow! Thats super nice! How long did that take?

Played around with making a knife presentation box today. Wood was 1” cherry. Cherry cut nice and clean. The two halves fit together nice and tight. The maz continues to impress me!

Made my biggest cut yet. The sign is about 7’ long. It will need a TON of sanding. I should have made a finishing pass, but it was already 8 hours of cutting as is. I also goofed up the alignment of the pocket cut and the contour cut going around. I did these as two separate cuts on different days and between the cuts the plywood fell while cleaning. I put it back close, but looks like I was off half an inch or so. Lesson learned, next time screw it down!

That looks fantastic! Nice work. Seven feet is darn impressive.

Couple of my cuts for this past week. A privacy fence topper and some inlayed ingraving work for a table for a client

Used my maslow to cut the router template for this electric ukulele (template in background). Used the template and a flush cut router bit create this sweet body blank. Blank was made from high quality plywood cut an glued together.

Electric Ukulele! That is so cool!

With a lot of spare time on my hands and a bit of a lack of access to ply I still managed to cut this medal rack for one or my friends.

Cut on 10mm (3/8) ply, I started with the engraving first then cut the outline. He’s currently in the process of highlighting (with the soldering iron) & staining it.

That looks like space for a lot of medals :grinning: Nice work!

Yep, the crazy barstard just completed his first full Ironman. His whole family are pretty competitive so shouldn’t take them long

It’s time for Yard Art for Memorial Day and 4th of July in the US.

Snoopy and Woodstock in their Uncle Sam outfits.

Parts are cut, but painting is not done.

Here’s what I started with.

And for those so inclined, here’s an svg file to make your own.

It’s a great time for yard art. It’s such a good way to celebrate that folks can appreciate from a distance

Are any good multi-game cabinets available that use a 32" LCD monitor? If so, willing to share?
Thanks.

I think these came out nicely after painting!

Looks great! Very nice work.

What material are you using? And what depth are the inlaid parts?

I am using 1/2” MDF. 3 coats of primer then 1-2 coats of color. Backs are painted black for a fourth coat. Pockets are 1/8” deep cut with a 1/4” bit.

Caveat emptor on the MDF. You have to make sure it is completely sealed from the elements as water intrusion will turn it into mush.We are very careful to make sure the figures are sealed and touch up the paint before putting them out and have not had an issue. MDO is a better option if it is available near you (4+ hours for me). I have seen some folks on the web use BC exterior grade plywood, but there will be voids that will need to be filled.

Lastly, if you don’t have the patience for the machining time to cut the pockets, search this forum for @Sharpsburg_Woodworke posts that show a non-pocket process. I personally really like the look and feel that the pocket depth gives. It also makes painting a breeze.

Thanks for the info. I’ll have to play around with the options and see what I like. However, I like the look of the pictures with the pockets vs. the outlines being the indents.

And good tips on the MDF. I’ve had bad experiences with it from Ikea vs water. Swells up and disintegrates.
