@bar Just a friendly note. I thought when downloading/uploading the stl files I would upload in inches to order etc. But looks like the files were created in mm .
The video looks good in mm. But just wanted to give folks a heads up bc the file names are in inches.
I also ran across a case where someone shared a 1.5" dust collector STL file and it looks like there was extra material removed from the center “C” section and for whatever reason the screw holes did not quite line up with those of the production Maslow4.
I’m an outlier, I’m one of the folks with a 4” dust collector hose and it’s working great but I wonder if there might be a little room for improvement in the form of possibly adding some modest support near where the hose adapter meets the dust collection foot itself. I’ve had some layer separation there when accidentally putting some force on the sled via the hose. Nothing fatal, but a couple of ribs might make that interface a little more resilient to weak prints or accidental tugging.
Thank you for making this model, BTW! My lungs thank you.
It’s pretty easy to make one as well with a couple 5 gallon buckets and a lid. There’s lots of youtube videos on ways to make them. I like having a bucket that’s at least semi-translucent on bottom so that you can easily tell when it needs dumping.
I believe that the vertical pipe connection is just for an overhead dust collection piping. Overhead dust collection is more dependent on your workshop setup and not the frame. If anything, it may be easier to have overhead dust collection with a horizontal frame, since a vertical frame has the dust port pointing towards the ground.
I actually can see this working very well even if your dust collector is floor mounted like mine and your Maslow is vertical, as the plumping would be straight out from the unit…I recently tried printing the linked 4" from the original files and got all the way to the last 2 hours of printing to have a bed adhesion failure and ended with a birds nest on top of my 3D printer! I was mad as a wet hornet! The print had been running for 1 day 15hours and some odd minutes!
Needless to say I walked away before I threw my 3D printer out the window!
LOL! I’ll try again in a day or so after I’ve calmed down!
