What sizes are yall's dust collector hoses

@bar Just a friendly note. I thought when downloading/uploading the stl files I would upload in inches to order etc. But looks like the files were created in mm .

The video looks good in mm. But just wanted to give folks a heads up bc the file names are in inches.

Great point! I will clarify that in the text.

2.5", but… During my V1E LowRider3 build I discovered not all 2.5" vac hoses are dimensioned equally…

Ended up having to print an adapter so that my 2.5" vac hose would connect to a part someone made for their 2.5" vac hose.

Fortunately was able to find (thanks to Philipp on V1E) and remix a parametric/configurable OpenScad adapter, example…

Latest adapter shared on GitHub has optional square flange.

Regarding the dust collectors and other files posted on the NOT Shop(The Not Shop — Maslow ), why not share a link to the STEP files so others can easily mod them? GitHub - MaslowCNC/Maslow4: The Build Files for the Maslow4

I also ran across a case where someone shared a 1.5" dust collector STL file and it looks like there was extra material removed from the center “C” section and for whatever reason the screw holes did not quite line up with those of the production Maslow4.

@bar Can I get a copy of the step file version of the 2.5in hose adapter?

Absolutely!

I was going to link to it in the GitHub repo with all the files and then I realized that it wasn’t there so thanks for pointing that out!

I added it so it’s here now: GitHub - MaslowCNC/Maslow4: The Build Files for the Maslow4

Thanks! I made this vertical version of the 2.5in adapter for anyone that wants to hang their hose from the ceiling.

I’m an outlier, I’m one of the folks with a 4” dust collector hose and it’s working great but I wonder if there might be a little room for improvement in the form of possibly adding some modest support near where the hose adapter meets the dust collection foot itself. I’ve had some layer separation there when accidentally putting some force on the sled via the hose. Nothing fatal, but a couple of ribs might make that interface a little more resilient to weak prints or accidental tugging.

Thank you for making this model, BTW! My lungs thank you. :smile_cat:

Nice! That’s a good mod to the design.

Hey, is it possible to have a version for a 35mm pipe ? So inside diameter of 35mm. most vacuum cleaners in Europe use this dimension. Thank you

35mm ID 35mm hose.stl (5.3 MB)
I would strongly suggest getting a cyclone Dust Separator like this one https://www.harborfreight.com/cyclone-dust-separator-kit-for-5-gallon-buckets-57194.html?_br_psugg_q=dust+collector
Sawdust will clog your vacuum incredibly quickly.

Thank you so much !!! Vertical pipe connection is better for vertical frame installation ? Can you model the version with the connection down ?

It’s pretty easy to make one as well with a couple 5 gallon buckets and a lid. There’s lots of youtube videos on ways to make them. I like having a bucket that’s at least semi-translucent on bottom so that you can easily tell when it needs dumping.

I believe that the vertical pipe connection is just for an overhead dust collection piping. Overhead dust collection is more dependent on your workshop setup and not the frame. If anything, it may be easier to have overhead dust collection with a horizontal frame, since a vertical frame has the dust port pointing towards the ground.

Would you be up for making a 4” version too? This would be perfect for my setup.

I actually can see this working very well even if your dust collector is floor mounted like mine and your Maslow is vertical, as the plumping would be straight out from the unit…I recently tried printing the linked 4" from the original files and got all the way to the last 2 hours of printing to have a bed adhesion failure and ended with a birds nest on top of my 3D printer! I was mad as a wet hornet! The print had been running for 1 day 15hours and some odd minutes!

Needless to say I walked away before I threw my 3D printer out the window!

LOL! I’ll try again in a day or so after I’ve calmed down!

Probably the design above! Thanks!

Bummer! There’s always Craftcloud.

I still don’t have a 3D printer. Will need some time before my wife is willing to consent to me getting another toy.
