Printable items for the M4

I have stumbled across several posts with useful 3D printed items and now can’t remember which post they were in. Would sure be nice to have any M4 user printable items in one place even if it is just a link to the file.

I agree. Where do we think that place should be?

An editable wiki post pinned to the top of a category?

Is there a definable distinction between items that might end up in the Not Shop, and a more general collection?

I was kinda thinking of the not shop as stuff that we’ll probably print a bunch of and offer for sale as soon as we can get a handle on shipping things.

I don’t really feel comfortable selling other folks designs, at least not without some additional logistics

So the Not Yet Shop

Well, that’s not true- the top of the Not Shop is links to items sold by others…

Could go with wiki or better yet give it its own category, the easier things are to find the better.
Things like the linear rod support shims could save folks lots of headaches.

Maybe add a category to the Community Garden?

There’s a few “self-hosted” digital asset managers out in the wild. Getting something like that setup specifically for M4 might be useful. Not sure what the bandwidth requirements (and thus costs) would be for type of thing though.

For example: https://github.com/manyfold3d/manyfold

We have people posting many things, sometimes it’s files, sometimes it’s links
to onshape.

Each of these things will have it’s own discussion thread, so what I think we
want to add is just a channel that has links to the various places where these
things are already being discussed.

Now, we may want more later, but I think to start with a place to be able to
find them is the right thing to have.

Anything to point someone to where the resources can be found quickly would be a big help.
Maslow 4s have been out for a little over a month and there are already a number of files available but finding the right post to discover them is rather time consuming.

Maybe we are all overthinking this and just a forum topic pinned to its category would do the trick.

I agree pinned topic would be the simplest way to find. The forums are just going to get busier with people all asking similar question as the units get delivered, guessing this is the reason for Bar asking for new moderators for general house keeping, as it will get very messy very quickly.

Great! I have added a link to this thread as well as to the Not Shop in a new Add-Ons section of the Belt Maslow (a.k.a. Maslow 4) Manual in the wiki category.

I’d vote to put them in GitHub.

I think one of the advantages of having a thread in the forums is that for each item the author has the option of attaching a file directly to the post or linking to an external source, such as github.

git works great for text files, it doesn’t work well for binary files and is
pretty much useless when what we have is a link pointing at a design in onshape.

I’m not objecting to putting things in git that work well there, just pointing
out that many things don’t

Idk it was just a thought since GitHub does have an STL viewer. A thread that the designer maintains the original post with the latest version would work as well.
